Questions about CabinCRU

CabinCRU is a Windows app that runs the cabin crew side of a flight in Microsoft Flight Simulator. It handles boarding, tracks the sixteen flight phases from gate to on-block and — in the Pro tier — plays cabin announcements and runs in-flight service. It reads live telemetry from the simulator over SimConnect, so it follows what your aircraft actually does instead of running on a timer.

CabinCRU is tested with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. MSFS 2024 uses the same SimConnect interface and should work, but we have not tested it ourselves yet. We would rather say that plainly than promise compatibility we have not verified — this page will be updated as soon as that changes.

All of them. CabinCRU does not model individual aircraft systems, so there is no compatibility list to check. It reads telemetry such as parking brake, engines, speed and altitude over SimConnect, and sizes the boarding window by aircraft category together with the passenger and bag counts from your flight plan.

The Free tier costs nothing and needs no account. It covers the complete flight workflow: live Flight Deck, boarding, sixteen-phase tracking, SimBrief import and flight history. Pro is a one-time purchase at €17,99 during early access, rising to €24,99 once the full release ships. There is no subscription.

Not for the Free tier — it runs entirely offline. The app reaches out to GitHub only to check whether a newer version is available. A connection is needed once if you buy Pro and redeem your licence.

Not for the Free tier. An account is only required to redeem a Pro licence, and optionally to be notified when Pro is released. Nothing about the Free workflow is gated behind a sign-in.

Windows. CabinCRU ships either as a Setup.exe that installs into your user profile without asking questions, or as a portable ZIP you unpack wherever you like. Both forms update themselves when a new release is out.

Yes. CabinCRU is a web app served by a small local server on your sim PC, and the desktop window is just one client. Open the address of that PC on port 54800 — for example http://192.168.1.20:54800 — from any device on your home network and you get the full app: start boarding, answer the cabin, run the service, play announcements. The state is shared across every device, and Windows asks once to allow CabinCRU through the firewall for your private network.

English and German are maintained by us. French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Portuguese are machine-translated. Pro announcements are spoken in German and English, with the primary and secondary language selectable per flight.

Automatically. Both the installer and the portable version update themselves when a new release is published. If you ever need an older build, every release stays available on GitHub.

No. Fuelling, catering, jet bridge and de-icing are not simulated — use GSX or the simulator for those. CabinCRU also has no post-flight score, no load control, no weight and balance, and it does not sync your flight history to the cloud.

Free gives you the complete flight workflow: Flight Deck with live telemetry, boarding with door clearance, sixteen-phase tracking, SimBrief or manual flight plans, flight history, and control from any browser on your network. Pro adds the cabin that talks back — spoken announcements with gong, boarding music and cabin ambience, in-flight service rounds per class, live passenger satisfaction, and dine on demand in First and Business.

From SimBrief with your username, or entered by hand: airports, aircraft, passengers and EOBT, with cruise level, bags and fuel optional. Flown flights stay in the deck as cards, so you can re-fly a route without setting it up again.
